Amy Smith Davis, 52, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Macon, Georgia, Amy grew up in Aiken, South Carolina, where she developed a lifelong love of nature and animals. A proud Clemson University graduate, she began her career as a school teacher before later working as a staff accountant. No matter where life took her, Amy's greatest gift was caring for the people around her.
Amy embraced life with joy and gratitude. She loved birdwatching, long walks, traveling with family and friends, attending live concerts, and spending time on the water. Whether she was watching birds, enjoying a day on the boat, or catching the occasional fish, she found happiness outdoors and she inspired others to appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
Amy met her husband, Scott, in graduate school in 1996, beginning a partnership built on laughter, unwavering devotion, and a shared passion for caring for others. Together they built a beautiful life centered around their greatest blessing, their son, Layton. Amy was a devoted wife, an incredible mother, and the steady heart of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark Harris Smith and Marie Fussell Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Davis; her beloved son, Layton Davis; her brother, Tim Smith; and many dear friends and extended family whose lives are richer for having known her.
Amy will be remembered for her radiant smile that could light up any room, her remarkable intelligence, her compassionate heart, and her fierce devotion to the people she loved. The world is a little quieter without her, but far kinder because she was here.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Amy's memory to the Amy Davis Program at the International Cancer Advocacy Network (ICAN), supporting individuals and families affected by lung cancer. Donations may be made at https://askican.org/namedprograms/adavis.html.
