Andrew C. Perkins, Jr. of James Island, SC, was born March 15,1943 to Andrew Perkins and Jennie Avinger. Andy graduated from James Island High School in 1962.

He was a proud United States Army Vietnam Veteran and was honorably discharged in 1967. He attended various electronics schools and received his FFC First Class Radiotelephone Operator's license. He was a broadcast engineer for ETV and WCSC for 7 years. In 1973, he became the head of the audio-visual department at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was a lover of beach music, learned to shag on the Folly Beach pier, and was the president of the greater Charleston Shag club from 1976-1978. He was a member of the Charleston Ski club for 25 years.

Andy was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Connie, by only 17 days. They loved to dance, fish, and travel together. He just couldn’t live life without her. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family, especially Julie Kassis Long (Walt) and their three sons, Turner, Mills, and Coleman, his godson, Jacob, and all his fellow Vietnam Veterans at the VFW post 445.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00am at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation - James Island, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
