Obituary

Ann F. Bellizzi passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on September 27, 2026 at the age of 87. Born on October 30, 1938 and raised in the Bronx. She is the daughter of the late Frank and Bess Macaluso, and the beloved wife of the late Gerald Bellizzi.

Ann graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, and soon after married her childhood sweetheart, Gerald Bellizzi. Together they raised five children and built a life centered around family. They spent their early years in the Bronx, then moved to Catskill and finally settling in Eastchester, New York. Gerald predeceased Ann on March 2, 1980.

Ann’s faith gave her strength throughout her life and especially after the loss of her husband at 41 years old. She continued to raise their five children on her own, never complaining about the responsibility placed upon her. Although her parents were always there to support her, she worked two jobs and remained a strong and a very independent woman.

She hosted many holiday dinners and parties, and her home was always a welcoming place, often filled with family and friends, and especially to all of her children’s friends who spent many days and nights there, and affectionately called her "Mama Bellizzi.” She had a fierce spirit and was never one to back down from an argument. She also had no problem disciplining her children when needed, but behind that toughness was a very generous and caring woman who was always willing to help a friend, family member or anyone who needed her.

After losing her husband, Ann later met Victor Soffa. They shared a loving relationship and enjoyed many years together boating, traveling and spending time with both of their families and friends. After retiring, they made a new life together in Delray Beach, Florida. Vic predeceased her in 2008. Ann remained in Delray Beach, and enjoyed her life. She loved spending time at the pool, beach, reading, swimming, or simply socializing with her family and friends. Ann maintained a very close relationship with Vic’s son, Andrew, his wife Shannon and their children, Amanda, Andrew Jr. and Anthony until her death.

Family remained at the center of Ann's life, especially her children and grandchildren who she had a special way of making each of them feel remembered and cared for. She shared a particularly close relationship with her brother, Dominick and sister-in-law, Barbara. They spoke every day and she loved to laugh at his jokes. She showed her love in simple every day ways, through a phone call, meal, a laugh, word of encouragement or by simply being there.

Ann is survived by her children, Gerald (Lisa), Vincent, Debra (Carl), Annmarie (Raymond), Christine (Anthony), and grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicholas (Nikki), Raymond, Isabella, Johnathan, John Carl (Jillian), Peter, Christopher, Nicky, Anthony and Joseph, great-granddaughter, Louisa, brother, Dominick (Barbara), brother-in-law, Richard (Vaneat) and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, some of whom knew her affectionately as “Honey.”

Ann will be remembered for her strength, independence, generosity, and above all the love she gave so freely to her family. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
