Arie Robert deZanger II died peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at his home on Kiawah Island,SC. Born November 11, 1933 in New York City. He was 88 years old. Son of the late Arie deZanger and Mary Hannah (McIntyre) deZanger. Brother of Dorothea deZanger Baron (deceased) and Andre Roderick deZanger.
Cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Wilma Grace Walker deZanger; his three children, Arie Robert deZanger III of Cape Coral, FL, Desiree deZanger Shaughnessy (Kevin Mark Shaughnessy) of Sparks, MD and Sugar Loaf, NY, Lisa deZanger Duckworth (Steven Duane Duckworth) of Hampstead, NC; six grandchildren, Arie Robert deZanger IV (deceased), Ryan Patrick Silbaugh, Stephanie Grace Keyser, Andrew Charles Shaughnessy, Alexander Robert deZanger, Hannalise Shaughnessy; and 2 great-granddaughters, Olivia Grace Keyser, Ruby Lynn Silbaugh.
He attended St Thomas Choir School, NYC; Watkinson School, Hartford, CT, High School of Performing Arts, NYC.
Arie was an internationally acclaimed professional photographer, whose photographs are the subjects of many gorgeous books. His specialty was still-life and food photography for publishing, advertising and corporate clients. Often referred to as "Painter with a Camera". He was a member of The Advertising Club of New York and American Institute of Graphic Arts.
A founding member of The Kiawah Arts Council, he was an enthusiastic and productive contributor to the Council for many years. He also served as Past-President of KPOG, Kiawah Island. Arie will be affectionately remembered for his great sense of humor, love of music, his art and his charming smile.
There are no services currently scheduled. However, a Celebration of Life service is being planned for the spring.
