Arthur Richard
Becker II
Mar 7, 1942 — Jun 4, 2026
Arthur Richard Becker II, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Born on March 7, 1942, in Kansas City, MO, Art was a son of the late Marie Belle (Matthews) Becker and the late Arthur Richard Becker.
Art retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer after 23 years combined service in the USMC and USN. During his military career he earned many awards and commendations for his leadership and technical know-how. He was selected SurfLant Sailor of the Year in 1974. Art served two combat tours in VietNam, earning numerous medals and citations including the Purple Heart. After retirement he continued to work in computer networking/IT with several companies. He later started his own business Becker Consulting Services, LLC. His expertise in the electronics area was legendary. He was always proud of helping move WCSC’s system to their new location without any glitches.
He was a proud member of VFW; James Island Yacht Club (lifetime member) and Lighthouse Point Civic Club (past president).
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Richard Becker and Marie Bell (Matthews) Becker; sister Marsha Parrott; sister Brenda Weddington; brother Michael S. Becker.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Ann (Helton) Becker; son, Arthur Richard “Artie” Becker III; granddaughter Savana K. Becker, his beloved Chihuahua Pearl, and a large extended family who will sorely miss his weird sense of humor and (usually) sage advice, solicited or not! He was not often known to express feelings verbally but showed his love by his actions. His big heart finally wore out and his leaving has broken ours. One of a kind, who lived the concept of SEMPER FI.
