Asbury Frank Hayes Jr.

A memorial service for Asbury Frank Hayes Jr., 82, of Gaston, SC, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC.

Mr. Hayes died on September 18, 2026. Born on July 30, 1944, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Asbury F. Hayes Sr. and Mamie Hayes Potter. He was a retired auto mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann; his sister, Rebecca Hayes; and his brothers, Melton Hayes and Baldie Hayes.

He is survived by his daughters, Martha Hayes, Becky Lily (Richard), and Lori Knight; and his son, Buddy Hayes. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Miller (Bo), Carolyn Cain (Don), and Helen Lamb (Paul); his brother, Bennie Hayes; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
