Barbara Leilani Schoppe, 77 of Bonneau, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

Born on April 29, 1945 in Honolulu, HI was a Daughter of the late Eula Whetsell (Spring) and Rufus Whetsell. She was the beloved wife of Richard A Shoppe.

Barbara was a devout Christian who loved her Lord. She met her husband The love of her life while working as a flight attendant for United Airlines based out of Chicago, IL. They then moved to Charleston, SC, her hometown, where they built their lives together. She went on to become the vice-president of a bank where she made her successful career of 30 years.

She enjoyed reading, working word puzzles and word games, boating, camping and just plain hanging out with her family. She was a selfless, generous and kind and was the strongest woman we knew. She was always there for anyone who needed a listening ear or guidance.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Whetsell and Eula Whetsell (Spring).

Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard A. Schoppe, two daughters, Kelly Rodriguez and Kristan Vincent (Fred), three grandchildren, Ashley Rodriguez, Kaylee Rodriguez and Kadyn Vincent, three great-grandchildren, Ayden Rodriguez, Trenton Rodriguez and Kay’Mere Fuller, one brother David Whetsell (Jan Boone) and many friends.

The family will have a private funeral service and burial.
