Barbara Ann Meyers

Barbara Ann Meyers - "Bobbie" - , 73, a resident of West Columbia, SC, passed away on Friday, January 30th, 2026. She was peacefully at rest at home when she passed.

Bobbie was born on February 5, 1952. She was originally from Chillicothe, Ohio, however, she traveled and lived across various locations of the southeast where she ultimately made South Carolina her home. She was dedicated to her career in Information Technology and had several fruitful careers. She loved to share stories about her careers and how she would travel and work internationally from time to time. She retired from her most recent career, where she worked for the University of South Carolina Information Technology partnered with IBM as an Oracle DBA. She loved technology and all the opportunities for change that it could bring.

She was a loving and genuinely caring person. She showed her love by listening, the way she cared deeply about the conversations you would have with her, and how she would reflect fondly on childhood memories from years past. While she liked to keep her circle small, those that were a part of it were able to see how proud she was of her children and the lives that they grew up to have. She was an avid reader and loved always learning something new. In her younger years, she could be found sewing outfits for everyone in the family. While sewing was "just a hobby", to see her creations, you would have thought she was a seamstress extraordinaire. In her later years, she could be found enjoying a game of Mahjong, watching her favorite evening game shows like Jeopardy, or giving loving touches to her cats.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her father Harry D Coler, and her mother Peggy Lou Coler (Ogden).

She is survived by 2 sons: Eric Scott Meyers (wife, Simone) and Gregory Thomas Meyers (wife, Susie) and their children Justin and Matthew. 

She is survived by her brother and sister and their beautiful families: A brother Harry Michael Coler (wife, Ann Pace), his son Harrison Michael Coler (wife, Kirsty) and Jordan Elizabeth Rogers (husband, John) and each of their children. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Karen Russell (Coler) (husband, Dan), their son Dustin Russell (wife, Jennifer) and Heather Lovely (husband, Jason) and each of their children. There are many other family members that she loved and we know they will miss her dearly.

A small family service will be held in West Columbia at McAlister-Smith Funeral home on Saturday, February 28 at 12pm. There will not be a visitation before the service. Flowers may be sent to the family service at the McAlister-Smith Funeral home located at 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169
