Brian E. Rice, 57, of Goose Creek, passed away September 24, 2014. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of Floyd Rice and the late Ruth Watson Rice and husband to Karen Matthews Rice. He was raised in Bloomington, IN and after high school joined the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. Mr. Rice was the owner and operator of Rice Heating and Air for many years and was an instructor at Trident Technical College. He was a South Carolina State Constable and a member of Harmony Lodge #61. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Indiana Hoosiers and South Carolina Gamecocks. He also enjoyed attending his daughter’s volleyball games and watching basketball and football. Brian was involved in youth sports and coached his children’s youth teams. He is survived by his wife, Karen Rice; daughter, Chloe Rice of Goose Creek; two sons, Chris Rice and wife Christine of St. George and Greg Rice and wife Jacqui of Summerville; and two granddaughters, Trinity and Pollyanna Rice; father, Floyd Rice and wife Phillipa of Zephyrhills, FL. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October, 4, 2014 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home Goose Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, October 3, 2014 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home Goose Creek Chapel.
