Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Brice Mathews, who passed away on June 28, 2026, at the young age of 21. Born on June 18, 2005, in Columbia, South Carolina, Brice brought light and joy into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Brice was the cherished son of Michele Mathews and the late Thomas Mathews, whose memory he held dear. Brice was a devoted brother to his siblings—brothers Brandon and David, and his sister Laura. He was the treasured grandson of Rose and Mike, and a beloved nephew of his uncle Mark. His presence will be deeply missed by his extended family, and a wide circle of friends who were like family to him.

Brice's short but impactful journey through life was marked by his inquisitive mind and curiosity. A graduate of Midlands Technical College, he earned an Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology, a testament to his passion for learning. Earlier this year, Brice began his promising career as an electrician apprentice at North Star Electric, where he quickly became known for his hard work, spirit, and enthusiasm. His coworkers fondly described him as a "ball of sunshine," exemplifying the light and positivity his presence gave others.

A man of many talents, Brice was a true jack of all trades. He had a profound love for building and creating, whether it was assembling computers, tinkering with cars, or exploring new video games. His creative and artistic spirit were highlighted in all of his endeavors, and he possessed a wise and intelligent mind that was impressive for his young age. He enjoyed traveling and exploring the world, especially with his family. Brice’s love for animals, especially sloths, was well-known, and his quirky, sarcastic humor provided those close to him with constant laughter. Brice enjoyed spending his free time reading and learning, particularly looking through maps and learning the geography of new places. His favorite moments were simple days spent with family and friends, making memories that will be cherished forever.
