Bruce William Evans, 72, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Born on October 26, 1953, in Hannibal, MO, Bruce was the son of the late Evelyn Raithel Evans and the late Thomas Evans.

Bruce and his high school sweetheart were married only one week after her graduation. While serving the state of Alabama as a firefighter, he felt the call to pursue a further education. He was a proud graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering. He always had open arms to anyone his family loved and made them a part of his own family. Whether they were friends of his sons or the extended family he inherited when they married, he welcomed them all with warm hugs and smiles. He loved Nerf gun battles at Christmas time, Tillamook ice cream, and calculus. He will be missed by many.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Dean Evans; sons, Jeremy Evans (Rhonda) and Wesley Evans (Tiffany); brother, Tom; sister, Ruth Ann (Roy); granddaughter, Lucy; step-grandchildren: Leah, Jasmine, Julian, and Kinzie; and step-great-grandchildren: Adriana, Kingsley, and Evangeline.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to My Sister’s House - Charleston, SC.
