Bruce Donell Sellers

Bruce Donell Sellers, 77, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025.

Born on April 14, 1948, in Charleston, SC, Bruce was the son of the late Albennie Douglas Sellers and the late Edmund Sellers.

A proud veteran, Bruce served in the United States Air Force and retired in 1986 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his military service, he continued his career as the Safety Director at Giant Cement. He later pursued his passion for mine safety by founding his own business, Palmetto State Training and Consulting. Through his work, Bruce made a lasting impact on workplace safety throughout the region.

Bruce led a life that was deeply devoted to serving and honoring his country, cherishing his family, and nurturing a profound love for the beauty of nature. Bruce found joy in simple pleasures—spending time at the lake with family and friends, boating, fishing, and sharing laughter. He never passed up a karaoke microphone and was especially known for his unforgettable renditions of Clarence Carter’s “Strokin’.”

In addition to his parents, Bruce is preceded in death by his brothers Charles Sellers, Benjamin McGougan, and Wayne Sellers.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Susan Sellers; daughters, Angela Holten (Bret) and Lauren Gimenez (Rory); son, Brian Sellers (April); and grandchildren: Kaylee Sellers, Monroe Gimenez, Addi Sellers, and Ryker Gimenez; and brother, James Sellers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 27, 2025, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley. Burial will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
