Listen to Obituary

Candice M. Carter, lovingly known as "Candi," formerly of Warrenton, Virginia, and most recently of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed peacefully on February 9, 2026, after a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 53 years, Charles B. Carter. Born on April Fool's Day in 1953, Candi was a fraternal triplet, born alongside two identical sisters, Patricia and Teri. She never realized how rare it was to be the middle sister between twins, but that is exactly what she was - one of a kind. Her parents, Frank Nocera of Bristol, Connecticut, and Lorraine Diles of Portsmouth, Ohio, were equally surprised by the extraordinary arrival of triplets. Both parents preceded her in death, as did her sisters, Donna Reed of Hamilton, Ohio, and Paula Isenbarg of Henderson, Nevada.

Candi is survived by her sisters: Jean Valdez of Marysville, Ohio; Patricia Lappert of Columbus, Ohio; Teri DeRome of Red Lodge, Montana; and Francie Nocera of Goose Creek, South Carolina; along with her brother, Mark Nocera of Columbus, Ohio. She also leaves behind a young lady, Jasmine Blanco of Bealeton, Virginia, whom she loved and thought of as an adopted daughter, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her dearly.

A woman of many talents, Candi enjoyed a long career in upper management with IBM. She was also a gifted artist, an accomplished baker, and could even take a car apart and put it back together - a challenge she loved. She excelled at whatever she set her mind to, but her greatest gift was her ability to connect with people on any level. Her smile could light up a room, and she truly never met a stranger. Generous beyond compare, she always put others first, sometimes even to a fault.

Per Candi's request, her memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, Candi would have asked that donations be made to a local animal shelter or rescue organization, as she loved all animals - especially dogs.

In life, Candi usually had the last word. This time, sweet sister, we do.

"We love you more."
