Carmella Ann Baranello Germano, affectionately known as "Emily," 95, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Born on July 17, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, Emily was the daughter of the late Josephine Belmonte and Angelo Baranello.
Emily was the fourth of six children. She spent many years as a resident of Medford and Ronkonkoma on Long Island, New York, and later enjoyed wintering in Bushnell, Florida. She attended public elementary school in Medford and graduated from Seton Hall Catholic High School in Patchogue. In 2002, she made South Carolina her home.
Emily retired after a dedicated career as a tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service. In her free time, she found joy in sewing, cooking, and traveling, hobbies that reflected her creativity and love of family and life.
In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Nicholas Germano; her brothers, Dominic, Angelo, and Donato; and her sisters, Dolly and Tish.
Emily is survived by her loving children, Nicholas of Rochester, New York, Gail of Alexandria, Virginia, and Michael of Arlington, Texas; her cherished granddaughter, Karla Germano of Rochester, New York; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, great-grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Goose Creek, SC.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church, 510 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, SC.
The burial will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
