Carol Louise
Miller
April 15, 1943 – April 9, 2026
Carol Louise Miller, "Granny," 82, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed into eternity on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Born on April 15, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Carol was the daughter of the late Irene McAfoos McCloskey and Edward McCloskey.
Granny had a giving heart and a gift for making everyone around her feel cherished. Her grandchildren affectionately called her the matriarch of the family - and she wore that title with joy. The grandchildren practically grew up at Granny and Pap's house, spending the night regularly when they were young, and those were the kinds of memories that stay with you. Spoiling the grandchildren came naturally to both of them, and that same warmth extended lovingly to the great-grandchildren as well.
Granny and Pap were known for their hospitality, and their Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve gatherings were something people looked forward to all year. They introduced many friends and family to the tradition of pork and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes at midnight on New Year's Eve - and once you'd had it at their table, it was hard to imagine ringing in the New Year any other way. Granny also spent many happy years fishing alongside Pap, and a good day on the water always called for a fish fry shared with the people she loved.
Granny had a deep love of gardening and genuinely enjoyed getting her hands in the dirt. In her later years, she found real delight in following farm channels and watching animals go about their day. A true foodie at heart, she loved trying new restaurants and following food blogs - always curious, always ready to discover her next favorite place to eat.
Throughout her career, Granny was a dedicated executive administrator, known for her strong work ethic and careful attention to detail - qualities she passed on to her children. A devoted wife and mother, she held the family together while working full-time, a quiet strength that shaped everyone around her. Granny and Pap first came to Goose Creek through his service in the United States Navy. After a brief return to Pennsylvania, they realized their hearts belonged in the Lowcountry, and in 1968. they made Goose Creek their permanent home.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Gerald Miller; son, Scott Miller; granddaughters, Eve Miller and Grace Miller; and brothers, Ed "Butch" McCloskey and Bruce McCloskey.
Granny is survived by her son, David Miller (Gina Capps); daughter, Deborah Singer (Mike); grandchildren: Allen Miller, Jessica Kutcha (Chris), Kevin Miller, Chad Singer (Lauren), Benjamin Singer (Lauren), Joshua Miller, Andrew Singer (Mary Catherine), Julia Miller; great-grandchildren: Gabriel Craven-Miller, Noah Miller, Addison Singer, Emma Singer, Declan Miller, Remy Kuchta, Hannah Singer; and niece, Kelly Garrett (as well as her beloved family).
The family will celebrate Granny at a private family graveside service held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 - fittingly, the same day she was born 83 years ago. Following the service, family and friends are invited to Granny's house for a drop-in from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM, to continue the celebration of her life.
