Carole Wayne King

Listen to Obituary

Carole Wayne King passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026 at Bishop Gadsden in Charleston, South Carolina at the age of 82. She was born on September 18, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Elizabeth Birrell Forsythe and Wayne Shube Forsythe.

Carole graduated from Boston University with a law degree and began her career in law, working for Westinghouse and later for Volunteers of America. Her life took a beautiful turn when she met Jack King while sailing in Annapolis Maryland — a passion they shared for many years together. When she married Jack in the early 1990's, Carole retired from law to pursue her love of painting, creating stunning landscape paintings that brought her joy. She lived for many years on Seabrook Island, South Carolina.

An adventurous spirit, Carole traveled the world and loved to sail. She was devoted to preserving family history and was writing a book about her grandparents, who were prisoners of war in the Philippines during World War II — a testament to her dedication to honoring the past.

Carole is survived by her stepdaughter Karin King (Glen Cox); stepson Bill King (Sheryl); stepmother Marcia Warner; and niece Athena and nephew Richard, children of her brother Doug Warner. She is also survived by her dear friends; Rosa Loredo of Mount Pleasant, SC, Helen Szablya of El Segundo, CA, and Wendy Duke of Lexington, VA. She will be especially missed by her constant companion of the past 11 years, Don Day of Seabrook Island, SC.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack King in 2012, her brother Doug Warner in 2019, and her stepfather Bob Warner in 2009.

Carole’s legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the beauty she created, and the stories she preserved.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
