Charles Howard Eberhardt

Charles H. Eberhardt, 57, of Charleston SC, joined beloved family and friends in heaven on May 4, 2025. Son of Charles E. Eberhardt and the late Rebecca T. Eberhardt, he was born on April 24, 1968. Charles was a graduate of St. Andrew's High School, class of 1986, where he lettered in wrestling, swimming, and having a good time. He knew the Charleston waterways like the back of his hand and was an accomplished surfer, kneeboarder, skateboarder, lifeguard, and diver.

He served an eight-year stint in the Navy on the USS Fahrion FFG -22; touring the South Pacific, South Atlantic, and Caribbean. There he learned and taught crucial skills in mechanics, all the while keeping up the spirits of not just his crew, but the whole ship (except the officers) during hard times on and off the ship.

Returning to Charleston, he was employed by mechanical contractors before opening his own shop in 2001 - Carolina Climate Masters. Charles was a Master Tradesman with certifications in Diesel Mechanics, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Indoor Air Quality, and Gasfitting. He had a loyal following of clientele, eventually accepting new clientele by referral only. To quote one of his rabid fans, "He was a very special man - honest, forthright, technically proficient, and dedicated to helping others. I could always count on him to be there for us. Just a fine fellow. I wish I'd known him beyond what he did to support us."

Charles was a dedicated family man. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Monica Eberhardt, nee Spratlin; preceded in death by their infant son, Sawyer; and survived by his sons, Adam Eberhardt and Owen Eberhardt (Shannon) - son of his previous wife. Laura.

Charles was an adventurous man. He loved live music, traveling near and far for his favorite bands. He loved adrenaline and took every moment he could to enjoy snowboarding, fast cars, fast boats, skateboarding, diving, and riding hydrofoil surfboards. He even had his E-Skateboard qualified as his ADA-approved mobility device.

Charles was a loyal friend. Old friends, new friends - he showed up for those in need, no matter how hard the task.

Charles was loved by many and will be missed dearly by all.
