Charles Oscar Salley

October 1, 1926 — February 28, 2021

Charles Oscar Salley, of Summerville, SC, "Caught the Train", as he, often,
metaphorically referenced "passing on", on February 28th 2021.

Charles, was born on October 01- in home - at 49 Essex Street, Revere, MA, to the late
Charles and Alice (née Martin) Salley. He was the younger brother of Paul(deceased) and
older brother to Anne(CA resident).

He was a graduate of the Highland Grade School, Revere High School(Class President),
Northeastern University (IM) -Sigma Epsilon Rho Honor Society - and Suffolk University (MBA).
In World War II, he was a Naval Aviator : Radioman in the PBY Catalina and PB4Y-2; 50
Caliber Gunner in the Privateer; mustered out as a Petty Officer - 3rd Class … and a
proud member of the Del Webb of Charleston's Veteran's Club.

Following the War, he was employed by General Electric - for 46 years : as a Tool & Die
maker, a Machinist, and a graduate of GE's Apprentice & Manager's Training Program.
He was a member of the GE Elfun Society, and retired as a Senior Quality Assurance &
System's Engineer. In this capacity his last critical assignments involved the medium
steam turbines, exhaust manifolds, and the gearing for the Navy's DDGs(Destroyers),
SSNs(Nuclear Subs), and CVNs(Nuclear Aircraft Carriers).

Charles was a loving husband for, 61 years - to his beloved High School sweetheart,
Elizabeth Anne "Beth"(née Kirk - deceased) - an outstanding father, and a solid friend, to
many. He was a member of the PTA, a Little League coach, a mentor, and a "go to guy"
if ever anyone had a problem. In his leisure time he liked to travel with his wife, and
family, and friends …traveling extensively throughout the United States, Europe,
Russia, Northern Africa, Asia, Middle East Ice Land, Green Land, Canada, Central and
South America. He was an avid reader - with a keen interest towards History, and
enjoyed calculating the math in market analysis. He was quiet, but got is point across.
His Life was long, full and happy … we should all be so lucky ! He left this world a
better place for having been here … and will be missed.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Doctors, PAs, Nurses, PTs, OTs
and Personal Assistance staff at "The Blake at Carnes Crossings"& Roper Berkeley Hospital,
and AGAPE Hospice for their grand attention to his needs, over these passing times.

The family will hold a brief visitation and Veteran's Honor on Wednesday, March 3, 2021
from 1pm to 2pm at the McAlister-Smith Funeral Chapel located at 869 St James Ave,
Goose Creek, SC 29445, 843-553-1511. The service will be held immediately afterward
with a subsequent cremation.
