Charles Eugene
Shisler
May 24, 1948 – April 24, 2026
Charles Eugene Shisler, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on April 24,2026, at 3:59 a.m. He was born on May 24, 1948, in Springfield, Missouri.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was also a proud member of the American Legion. After his military service, he began a long and dedicated career with Westvaco as a multi-craft mechanic. Through hard work and dedication, he spent 39 years with the company before retiring.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Eugene Shisler and Dorothy Mae Tennison Shisler; his sister, Carolyn Copeland of Springfield, Missouri; and his granddaughter, Sarah LeeAnn DeSouza.
Charlie was a simple man who found joy in the little things in life. He loved spending time camping at Rocks Pond Campground, where many cherished memories were made with family and friends. He especially enjoyed riding around the campground in his golf cart with his wife, Sharon. He enjoyed playing bingo with his senior friends and always looked forward to time spent laughing and socializing.
In his younger years, Charlie loved gardening and took pride in watching things grow. He was also known for always "piddling" - whether it was fixing things around the house, tinkering in the yard, or working with his hands on small projects. He rarely sat still for long and was happiest when he had something to do.
Charlie also had a deep love for his Labrador, Gracie, who was a constant companion and brought him great comfort and joy over the years. She was truly part of his daily life and family.
For 57 years, Charles shared a loving and devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Sharon Lee Shisler. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and countless cherished memories. Their marriage was a true testament to commitment, partnership, and enduring love.
Above all else, Charlie cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lee Shisler; his two daughters, Connie Jean DeSouza (Wally) and Wendy Sue Hagan (TR); his four grandchildren, Joshua William DeSouza, Jessica LeeAnn DeSouza (David), Trey Hagan (Maycee), and Kelly Jacquelin Hagan (Cameron); and his two brothers, Ronnie Shisler and Gary Shisler, both of Springfield, Missouri.
Charlie will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his quiet nature, his love for family, and the simple joy he found in everyday life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral arrangements and celebration of life details will be shared by the family at a later date.
