Cheryl Chaplin Mullis

Cheryl Chaplin Mullis, 74, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

Born on June 6, 1951, in Charleston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Emily Arndt Chaplin and Joseph O. Chaplin, Jr.

Cheryl began her professional career with the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department in 1976 as a personal secretary to Ray Rhodes. She worked with Dr. Charles Banov as a certified medical assistant for several years. She retired from Charleston County Parks and Recreation after 10 years of dedicated service.

Cheryl graduated from Limestone College in 1998 with a BS in Accounting. She was a 30-year member of James Island Baptist Church and served faithfully.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Joseph Wayne Chaplin.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Ed Mullis and son, Allie Oswald, both of James Island, SC; sister Cindy Galloway (Tommy) of Bonneau, SC; brother Michael Chaplin of Ravenel, SC; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at James Island Baptist Church, 2023 Wappo Drive, Charleston, SC 29412. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at the church at 12:00pm
