Christine Walters Crowther

With profound love and deep sadness, the family of Christine Walters Crowther announces her passing. Her life was marked by devotion to family, a lifelong commitment to education, creativity, and kindness toward those around her.

Christine shared 52 years of marriage with her husband, Bradley Crowther. Although they were married for more than five decades, their story began much earlier in life. Christine and Brad shared a deep and lasting bond, and those who knew them understood they were true soulmates. Their marriage was a partnership built on love, loyalty, and commitment, and the life they created together remained at the center of Christine’s heart.

Christine was a passionate educator who dedicated much of her life to helping children learn and grow. She earned degrees from Gettysburg College, the University of Maryland, and Rhode Island College, where she also received a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study. She spent many years teaching in the classroom in Rhode Island and South Carolina, and later focused on teaching reading, supporting young students as they developed confidence and important literacy skills. In her later years, she continued her work through tutoring, remaining committed to helping students succeed.

Christine was an amazing mother, and from the day her son Jonathan was born, he was at the center of her world. She loved him deeply and devoted herself to supporting, encouraging, and caring for him throughout his life. That same love extended to her daughter-in-law, Jamie, and to her grandchildren, Olivia and Hudson, who brought her great joy.

In recent years, Christine discovered a love for hand embroidery, creating beautiful napkins, tablecloths, and table runners with care and artistry. She brought her work to local arts and crafts festivals, where it was warmly received and admired by many. Her creativity, patience, and attention to detail were reflected in each piece she made.

Christine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, educator, and friend. She enjoyed nothing more than time spent with her family. Her family will remember her steady presence, her thoughtful nature, her creativity, and the many ways she supported and encouraged those she loved.

Christine is survived by her husband, Brad; her son, Jonathan; her daughter-in-law, Jamie; her granddaughter, Olivia; and her grandson, Hudson. She is also survived by her brother, Roy and his wife, Cindy; and her sisters, Carolyn and her husband, Ronald, and Ruth and her husband, Michael. Her legacy lives on in her family, in the many students she helped throughout her career, in the beautiful work she created by hand, and in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Christine was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
