Curtis Coleman Clark

Listen to Obituary

Curtis Coleman Clark was born on his grandfather’s birthday, September 27, 1990, in Chesapeake, VA. Beautifully named for his grandfather, Curtis Talmadge Wilson, his Great-Grandfather, Charles Foster Coleman, with a strong surname from his Grampie, William “Bill” Frederick Clark. Coleman is a son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, dog-dad to Oliver, and super-proud uncle to Peyton and Emmett. He loved life and lived large. He loved to play sports and being active. He especially loved to play soccer and watch professional football with Manchester United, his favorite team. He was and will always be an avid VA Tech football fan.

Raised in Chesapeake, VA with brothers Tyler and Weston, he cherished family time created by parents Lane and Rick. As the first son, first grandson, and oldest cousin—he was the ringleader for all family gatherings.

Living most of his life in Virginia, he lived the last five years in Charleston, where he was proud to call his home. Coleman was always hitting the beach, always the first to say Congrats & Cheers, always ready to give his time and talents to whomever called for help.

Hugely successful in his work endeavors, advancing at a fast pace, he was a star for every employer he worked with. Coleman made friends everywhere he went. Everyone felt lucky to just BE in his circle. He loved music, attending concerts, and gave lots of love to everyone—and received lots of love in return.

Oftentimes it takes years to grow into our true selves. Coleman achieved this--living with authenticity, confidence, and openness of who he was, and wore his identity with pride.

Lifelong nicknames for Coleman make us all smile—C-man, Ludicurtis, Coco, and most recently, Uncle Coco.

Coleman is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Curtis Wilson and Bill Clark, and Uncle Patrick Maddox. He is survived by his parents Lane and Rick Clark; brothers Tyler (Taylor) Clark, and Weston (Anthony) Clark; grandmothers Molly Wilson and Eleanor Clark; Aunts Sara Catherine (David) Vaughan, Molly II (Brian) Gould, Sandra (Dan) Peters, Sara Maddox; Uncles Chris Wilson, Marc (Diana) Wilson; Cousins Jordyn Wilson, Peyton Wilson, Kaitlyn Vaughan, Bailey Vaughan, Josh Maddox, Ian Maddox, Brad Peters, Maclane Mautz, Christopher Peters, Madeline Mautz; nephews Peyton and Emmett Clark. Coleman also leaves behind a ridiculous number of beloved friends—near and far, too many to mention, that he loved with his great big heart.

A celebration of life will be planned in Virginia in the coming months.
