Darren Jerome "Rip" Tisdale

Darren Jerome “Rip” Tisdale, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of those who meant the most to him. Born on February 26, 1959, Rip was born and raised in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where he built a life filled with family, friendship, hard work, and a love for the Lowcountry way of life.

Rip dedicated nearly 50 years of his life to his work as an electrician with Robert Anderson Electrical Company. He was exceptionally talented at fixing and building just about anything, and there was little he couldn’t figure out when it came to working with his hands. His skill, work ethic, and willingness to help others made him someone people could always count on.

Outside of work, Rip was happiest outdoors. He loved anything involving the water and spent countless hours boating, fishing, crabbing, and shrimping. He spent a great deal of his spare time at the Geechie Dock. He was also a devoted Alabama football fan and could often be found cheering on his beloved Crimson Tide. Old country music was another favorite, and he never needed much of an excuse to turn on a good country song.

Rip had an incredible love for animals, with his dog Clifford holding a particularly special place in his heart. But above all, Rip adored his family. He loved his wife, his children and grandchildren, his siblings, extended family, and his many friends deeply. He had more friends than anyone could count, and he was loved by so many in return. His generous spirit, sense of humor, helpful nature, and genuine love for the people around him made him someone who was impossible to forget.

Rip was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glen Tisdale, his beloved son, Darren Tisdale, his parents, Eugene and Laura Tisdale, and his siblings, Denise Hollingworth, Bubba Tisdale, Rex Tisdale.

He is survived by his children, Noah Bennett and his wife, Anna, and their children, Hunter Bennett and Chandler Bennett; Jeffery Tisdale and his wife, Melissa, and their children, Waylon Tisdale, Sawyer Tisdale, and Norah Tisdale; and Carly Chavis and her husband, Corey, and their child, Sheppard Chavis. He is also survived by his sibling, Julia Wyatt (Acey); as well as his nieces and nephews, Lilly Hadler, Parker Hadler, and Payton Hadler.

Rip leaves behind a lifetime of memories made on the water, at the dock, around family and friends, and in all the little moments that made life special. Though he will be deeply missed, his love, laughter, stories, and the countless lives he touched will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held September 20, 2026 at Goldbug. Please reach out to the family for service details.

Rest easy, Rip. You were loved by many, and you will never be forgotten.
