David “Luke” Lucas Massey, 31 of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Luke was born on June 30, 1994 in Charleston, SC and was a son of Amy Cartner Rogers and the late, William McNair Massey.
Luke spent his formative years in Charlotte, NC and graduated from Myers Park High School. He later attended UC Boulder and the College of Charleston.
Luke was born a twin and shared a special bond with his brother and best friend Clayton. Luke had an adventurous childhood filled with team sports, family vacations and summers at Camp Seagull. Luke loved snowboarding and looked forward to the annual ski trip to the Rockies. He also enjoyed the family sailing trips to the Caribbean, hiking/camping adventures through National Parks and climbing vacations that included summiting Grand Teton as well as Peruvian peaks. Luke spent numerous childhood summers at Camp Seagull where he thrived and earned the camp’s top honors in Athletics in 2004 and in Aquatics in 2006. Luke met his fiancé Madison in 2016 and they shared a special love that grew deeper over the many years they spent together. Their daughter Rosie was born in 2018 and Luke adored Rosie beyond measure. Being a father brought out the most tender, playful, and devoted side of Luke. He loved having Madison as a partner and being a dad to Rosie. Their weekly bike rides, beach excursions and Saturday breakfast dates were his favorite times. Luke even continued the family camping trip tradition by taking Madison and Rosie on her first camping trip ever just last month. Those who knew Luke would tell you he was the funniest, goofiest and sweetest guy you’ll ever meet. He loved anime, collecting shoes, hoarding DC and Marvel comic action figures, but above all else his family.
Luke is preceded in death by his father, William McNair Massey.
He is survived by his fiancé, Madison Brennan, daughter, Rosie Massey, mother, Amy Rogers (Tommy), brother, Clayton Massey (Abigail), grandfather, Andy Cartner and many loving Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
