David Lewis Simon, 72, passed away on July 23, 2026, on Seabrook Island, South Carolina, surrounded by his loving family. David, the youngest of three, was born December 12, 1953.

David graduated from Louisville Ballard High School in 1972 where he played football. He attended the University of Louisville and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977. Thereafter, he attended University of Kentucky and obtained a Master of Business Administration in 1978.

David met the love of his life, Deborah Lee Behuniak, at a get-together at his apartment in the summer of 1976. They were married on December 31, 1977. They made their home together in Louisville and Paducah, Kentucky for 44 years before retiring to Seabrook Island, South Carolina in 2021.

David worked in various roles at Humana Inc. from 1978 to 1995. He joined Computer Services, Inc. in 1995, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for 23 years. He was very well respected by his peers and co-workers.

David was a wine collector with a deep knowledge of wines from around the world. He also loved experimenting in the kitchen alongside his wife, often putting his own spin on a recipe until it was just right. David believed in taking care of the people he loved and made a point of setting aside something for each of his grand nieces and nephews to help with their future education. After retiring, he and Deborah traveled the world together, touring all seven continents by cruise. David also served on the Board of Directors of the St. Nicholas Family Free Clinic in Paducah, Kentucky prior to his retirement.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sandra Montalvo.

He is survived by his wife Deborah Simon and their two children: William Evan Simon of Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Abigail Rose Simon of Brooklyn, New York. David was immensely proud of his children. David is also survived by his brother Bill Simon of Nixa, Missouri; his nieces Kayla Spidle (Ryan) of Arlington, Tennessee, and Cecilia Higley (Andrew) of Atlanta, Georgia; and his nephew David Montalvo of Atlanta, Georgia.
