Dennis John Miskewicz

Mr. Dennis John Miskewicz, 81, of the Del Webb community at Cane Bay in Summerville, SC died Saturday, April 6, 2024 after a brief illness and

He was born on September 15, 1942 in Clifton, NJ to Sigmund and Mae Miskewicz as the oldest of four children in a loving Catholic family.

Mr. Miskewicz graduated from Pope Pius XII High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University in NJ.  He received a degree in accounting.

He was drafted into the Vietnam War in 1966.  While there he taught school to South Vietnamese children in Saigon, worked in finance, and served on combat missions.  Mr. Miskewicz was a proud veteran receiving an honorable discharge.

On August 23, 1969 he married special education teacher Rita Kron of Clifton, NJ. They had one daughter, Jennifer, raising her in Fairfield, NJ.

Throughout his career Mr. Miskewicz worked at accounting firms and companies in New York City.  He was also passionate about community service and leadership.  A president of the Wayne, New Jersey Rotary Club, he became a District Governor and Paul Harris Fellow, receiving accolades for his contributions.

With a love of aviation, Mr. Miskewicz earned a private pilot's license and enjoyed flying his Cessna airplane for many years until he gave that up to play golf.

In 2009 Mr. Miskewicz and his wife moved to SC to be closer to Jennifer, her husband Alan, and their two grandchildren, Michael and Anna Grace.
They enjoyed spoiling their grandkids, which included trips to interesting places around Charleston, a lot of candy, and unauthorized bedtimes.

At Del Webb, Mr. Miskewicz participated in community theater, served on the homeowner's association board, wrote for the neighborhood magazine, and led a veteran's group.

Mr. Miskewicz was known for cooking outstanding Thanksgiving dinners and baking delicious apple pies.  He had a tireless sweet tooth for cookies and loved books and photography.

The family extends a special thank you to his neighbors and friends who looked after and cared for him recently.  They have become family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Miskewicz was predeceased by his wife, Rita; sister, Patricia; and sister-in-law, Mary Coyne Miskewicz.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Wilson (Alan) and his grandchildren, Michael and Anna Grace Wilson of Lexington, SC; his brother, Richard Miskewicz of Hilton Head, SC; his sister, Ann Marie Miskewicz of Vernon, NJ; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
