Dennis Earl Utter

Dennis Earl Utter, 78, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, in Summerville SC surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on May 27, 1947, in Washington D.C. to Lester Wayne Utter and Roberta Hobbs Utter.

Dennis graduated from The Citadel in 1969 with a degree in Mathematics and enjoyed a successful career working for the federal government, lastly with NHTSA. He grew up in their Silver Spring, MD home with his parents and brothers Gary and Randy, and sister Janine. He loved spending time with his church, playing bridge and pickleball.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte and by his three sons: Bryan, Mark and Erik from a previous marriage to Anna Rucker Utter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Summerville, 407 South Laurel Street, Summerville, SC 29483.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
