Diana Westmoreland

Diana Barnett Westmoreland, 83, of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest in Heaven on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Diana was born on June 1, 1943, in Laurens, South Carolina, to Henry Broadus Barnett and Beatrice Lothridge Barnett. She was a 1961 graduate of Laurens High School, where she played basketball. Diana later graduated from East Carolina University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education.

Diana was primarily a homemaker and devoted much of her life to caring for and supporting her family. She also shared her love of learning and children by teaching math at Christ Our King Stella Maris School in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Diana and her beloved husband, James "Jim" Gilliam Westmoreland, Sr, shared 58 years of marriage. In 1983, they made their home in Wild Dunes on Isle of Palms, where they built a lifetime of memories. Diana especially loved the beach, taking golf cart rides, and enjoying the many events, activities, and games that brought her family together. She and Jim were devoted supporters of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great joy in being present for the important moments and all the everyday ones in between.

Diana was an active member of Sullivan's Island Baptist Church and Seacoast Church for more than 30 years. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found great joy in her church family.

Diana was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Gilliam Westmoreland; her father, Henry Broadus Barnett; and her mother, Beatrice Lothridge Barnett.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Westmoreland (Robert) Eppelsheimer; her son, Westy (Amy) Westmoreland; her sister, Juanita (Alan) Finley; her grandchildren, Samantha Eppelsheimer (Charles) Dunn, Andrew (Marcela) Eppelsheimer, Anna Westmoreland (Ben) McCormick, Jay Westmoreland, and John Westmoreland; and her great-grandchildren, Fisher, Amelia, Finley, and Elena.

Diana will be remembered most for her love of family, her faith, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. She leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply and carry her love and memory with them always.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of Diana's caregivers for the compassion, kindness, and loving care they provided. A special thank you goes to the devoted staff of Lutheran Hospice and East Cooper Meals on Wheels, whose support and care brought comfort to Diana and her family.

A celebration of Diana's life will be held at Sullivan's Island Baptist Church on September 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with a reception at the church following the service.

In place of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sullivan's Island Baptist Church Mission Fund or East Cooper Meals on Wheels.
