Douglas Herbert Raubenheimer

Douglas Herbert Raubenheimer, 84, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023.

Born on May 12, 1938, in Lynbrook, NY, he was a son of the late Mildred Raubenheimer and Herbert Raubenheimer.

Doug graduated from Springfield College, Springfield, MA, with a degree in Physical Education.

His teaching career started at Hanover Park High School, Hanover, NJ and then to Whippany Park High School in Whippany, NJ where he taught for 40 years.

Coaching high school Soccer, Ice Hockey, and Track & Field during his career led to many winning seasons for his teams and students.

After retiring from teaching, he moved to Lake Winnipesaukee, NH where he spent many years golfing, boating, and enjoying New England.

He moved to Charleston in 2000 and has continued with his love of golf, playing three to four days a week. He made many good friends here in Charleston...he will be missed.

His home and yard were always his pride and joy.... keeping meticulous care of it all. A love for drawing was discovered in his later years and he was proud of his hidden artistic talents. Of course sports were always his true love...his ability to quote statistics on any team was admirable.

Besides his parents, Douglas is preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Gardiner and Elaine Cribbin.

Douglas is survived by his son, Peter Raubenheimer and his wife, Lisa, who have two children, Joey Raubenheimer and Chelsea Raubenheimer; and his daughter, Wendy Raubenheimer and her husband, Michael Maiocco.
