Dr. Robert R. Waller

Dr. Robert Randolph Waller, 88 of Gainesville, GA and recently moved to Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Born on November 26, 1934 in Kansas City, MO was a son of the late Marie Waller (Wolfe) and Robert Waller; brother to Thomas, Stephen, and Charles, and loving husband to his wife of nearly 66 years, Janet.

Bob spent a full life working hard to provide for, and care for his family.  He had a great sense of humor and was always concerned for the protection of those around him.    Born in the Midwest to hard working parents, he graduated from dental school and spent his career in the dental field both in private practice and public service.

Bob honorably served his country in military service in both the Navy and the Army.  In civilian life he was an educator and provided great contributions in the field of infectious disease serving the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta.

He and Janet had a love for travel, the outdoors, and working in their garden taking great pride in their azaleas.  His love of fishing was a lifelong pursuit both on lakes and oceans.  Challenged by memory later in life, he still remembered details from his youth in great detail and loved to tell the story of kicking a basketball into the goal from full court in high school on the first try.  Nothing but net!

Calling on our Lord, Jesus Christ, in his final days, Bob passed peacefully in the loving arms of God.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Janet (Layson) Waller, two very proud sons and their wives, Christopher Michael (Mike) and Lisa Waller and Brian and DeeAnn Waller. He is also Grandad to four loving grandchildren, Tyler, Preslie, Joseph and Peter Waller. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
