Elizabeth Enyll Greer (Matherly) age 90, passed away on Sept 15, 2023. Elizabeth was born on July 27, 1933, in Albia, Iowa. She graduated from Shenandoah High School in Shenandoah, IA where she met and later married Johnnie Alfred Greer who was her husband for 60 years before his death in 2012. Elizabeth was a devoted mother to four children who were the focus of her life. Her love of children led her to be a foster mother, Girl Scout leader and take in neighborhood kids. She and Johnnie enjoyed camping with the family which often included vacations with parents, siblings and many nieces and nephews on the lakes of Minnesota. Elizabeth retired after 25 years as a Pharmacists Assistant at K-Mart Pharmacy in Merriam, KS. In retirement, she enjoyed the simple things in life like gardening, homegrown tomatoes, a game of Skipbo with grandkids, traveling with family and a good margarita.
In heaven, Elizabeth will be joining her husband, Johnnie, her parents Enyll Edythe Matherly (Carr) and Forrest Earl Matherly, her in-laws Wayne Greer and Flossie Greer (Ratliff), her sister Alice Anne McNamara (Matherly), two brothers Carl Matherly and Forrest (Junior) Matherly and two grandsons, Cory Rowe and Jake Geis.
She will be greatly missed by her children- Pam Greer of Denver CO, Bea Greer of Leesburg, FL, Julie Geis and her husband David of Cincinnati, OH and David Greer and his wife Traci of Charleston, SC, brother-in-law Jodie Greer and his wife Karen of Springfield, MO, sister-in-law Barbara Cox of Shenandoah, IA , her grandchildren, Michael, Jenny, Heather, Nicki, Sammie, Zachary and Ashley, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be held in her and Johnnie's hometown of Shenandoah, Iowa in the summer of 2024.
