Elizabeth Ann “Betty Ann” Wood (Johnson), 63, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina passed away surrounded by her family at MUSC on Thursday, May 18th, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.
Born September 24th, 1959, in Charleston, she is the daughter of the late Harold William Johnson, Sr. and Veronica Cecelia Johnson (Murphy).
Betty Ann loved dancing, reading, gardening, and was known for her incredibly creative crafting abilities. Most of all, she enjoyed spending every minute she could with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (“Koalamom”), sister, aunt, and friend. She had an innate ability to make everyone she met feel like family and was the consummate definition of “Three Times a Lady.”
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Lee “Tom” Wood, Sr; two daughters, Brooke Ashley McCullough (husband Jason) of Ellerslie, GA, and Blair Alynn Mace (husband Ryan) of Goose Creek; one son- Thomas Lee “T.J.” Wood, Jr. (wife Amy) of Moncks Corner; sister, Patricia Lynn Barbour (husband Richard) of Pittsburgh, PA; seven grandchildren- Adrian Elizabeth McCullough, Jenna Danielle Prater (husband Walter), Jarret DeWayne McCullough, Beck Austin McCullough, Thomas Lee “Trey” Wood III, Randall Bryce “Andy” Wood, and Raelyn Ann Mace; two great grandchildren, Brantlee Jack Harris and Evalynn Gabriella Prater; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold William Johnson, Sr. and Veronica Johnson; her brother, Harold William Johnson, Jr. (wife Joan).
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 27th, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at McAllister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Medical University of South Carolina Research Fund. Donations can be mailed to the following address. Please notate the Fund Number and Elizabeth Wood to the memo line.
