Ember Ruth Jones

Ember Ruth Jones, 5 years old, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026. 

Born on September 18, 2020, in Charleston, SC, Ember was the daughter of Danielle Hofmann and Michael Jones. 

Ember was a graduate of the PIC classroom at Oakland Elementary where she attended for 3 years. She began kindergarten at Pattison’s Academy. Each week she worked hard with various physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and vision therapy to develop strength and skills that helped her explore and learn the world around her. 

One of her favorite things was listening and grooving to various songs with a good beat. Her favorites varied from early Taylor Swift songs, to 80's - 90's R&B, to Bad Bunny, and Bruno Mars. Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus was a recurring motivator. In addition to music, Ember was known for spreading joy and smiles to everyone she encountered. 

Her easy attitude, unwavering patience, silly possum skills, and unbeatable giggles brought calm to many rooms. When given a challenge, she led with determination and fierce courage. She enjoyed going to various musicals including many Disney productions. Ember also enjoyed traveling with family to the mountains, beach, Disney, and Germany. Some of Ember’s favorite tastes included caramel, donuts, and pumpkin spice. Obviously the cooling fall weather was her favorite. She could be found often on the sidelines cheering on her siblings at various sports and school activities. She loved showing her support and being included wherever possible with her siblings. Ember completed the first three Resilient Arrow All Abilities Run, Walk, or Roll events. Over the summer, the swimming pool brought her a lot of joy. Year-round she could be found enjoying the rhythmic sways of many swings. 

Ember is preceded in death by her grandmother, Kim Jones. 

Ember will be deeply missed by her parents, Danielle Hofmann and Michael Jones; siblings, Charleigh, Sterling, and Lara Jones; grandparents: Kevin and Vicki Hofmann, and Frank (Sandra) Vasquez; and many other extended family members.

The family will have a celebration of life on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Holy City Brewing on the patio (1021 Aragon Ave).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston, SC 29407. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 603 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
