Kathy was a vivacious, optimistic, kind-hearted personality. An accomplished business woman who excelled in sales for major hotel chains.Later she found great success in temporary help sales, taking a deep breath and establishing her own company, Primary Temporaries,Inc during her 20 years in Chicago. Kathy also shared her talents in the wider community working with the Children's Home and Aid Society of Chicago, the Cafe Brauer Renovation project in Lincoln Park, and later co-chaired a funding committee for the building of the new Peggy Notebart Nature Museum also in Lincoln Park.

Upon moving to her heart's home, the south, Kathy and her husband settled in Charleston in 2001and Kathy concentrated her efforts in the one area lacking in her life. Kathy never had children of her own, but she was loved by her 16 nieces and nephews as they grew from children to young adults. She also shared her time, talents, and vibrant personality with children at the Harborview Presbyterian Church preschool until her health began to fail.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Kathryne Austin (Brunson) Hollis and Jackson Glenn Hollis, her sister Kelly Hollis Singer and her brother Jackson Glenn Hollis II.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Arthur T Hartung, her sisters Sandra Hollis Crowder, and Mary Hollis Thomas and her 16 nieces and nephews and their families; Megan Crider Boland, Emily Crider, Guy Crider, Kristen Hartung Fidler, Daniel Hartung. Timothy Hartung, Merideth Crowder, Griffin Crowder, Matthew Mulhern, John Mulhern, Jackson Glenn Hollis III, Rachel Hollis Bartlett, Alix Thomas, Cass Freihege, Austin Thomas, and Hannah Singer.

In lieu of flowers, Contributions would be greatly appreciated to Ferocious Fighters, 126 Matthews Drive, Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Ferocious Fighters is a registered charity that supports young people suffering from Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a condition suffered by her oldest niece's son.
