Evangelina Pascual Julian Schlegel, of Charleston, South Carolina, and Talavera, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, passed away on Monday, June 29th, 2026.

Born on December 9, 1961, in Talavera, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, Evangelina was the daughter of Yaman Pascual Julian and the late Catalino Julian.

The first half of her life was spent in the Philippines, where she went to school, helped raise her seven younger siblings, and gained lifelong friends. Eva married Peter Schlegel on October 12th, 1994, at her family home in the Philippines. She moved to Charleston in September 1995, and they were blessed with four children in the following years. She helped with the family business while raising kids for nearly two decades. Eva enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, speaking to her family on the phone, and K-dramas.

Eva was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Throughout her life, she willingly accepted callings to serve in the nursery, primary, and Relief Society. Among her greatest achievements were her unwavering commitment to her family, her faith, and her dedication to helping others. She was known for her kindness, humility, and generosity. Her life reflected the values of love, perseverance, and compassion. Those who knew her remember her as a devoted wife, caring mother, loving sister, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.

Her family and friends cherish the memories of her gentle spirit, encouraging words, and a smile that could light up a room. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on through her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She will always be remembered with love, gratitude, and the example she left behind.

Eva is survived by her husband, Peter Schlegel; her children: Kristen Schlegel, Alexander Schlegel, Rachel (Trent) Redfearn, Stephen Schlegel, and Lisa Huff; her siblings: Gildo (Angie) Julian, Maliwat (Teresita) Julian, Joselito (Yolanda) Julian, Reynaldo (Leah) Julian, Nelson (Michelle) Julian, Carmelito (Roelyn) Julian, and Annalisa (Rodelio) Cabuyaban; and many extending family members.
