Frances Elizabeth (Gray) Wright of Goose Creek, SC died peacefully at home on Tuesday May 24. Born during the great depression in a humble town house in Baltimore, Maryland on September 7, 1932, she was just months shy of her 90th birthday. The second child of three for Naomi Elizabeth and George Sterling Gray. She was the last surviving member of that family. Frances was always an outgoing personality who was always up for an adventure, lots of activities and had a great sense of style. She met the love of her live while she was in High School. They were on opposite sides of the Basketball court (her cheering for her school and him scoring points against them). The one place they could really connect was at the church they both shared. Frances and Paul were married January 1, 1953. They shared 44 years together until he passed in 1997.
She is survived by all four of their children Joan Kristine (Goose Creek) Georgia Lee (Fredericksburg) Paul Herbert (White Plains) and Robin Sue (Goose Creek) Those children also gave her 9 grandchildren, Joseph, Justin, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Amber, Jason, Jamie, Whitney, and James, and a total of 15 great grandchildren.
As a mother and homemaker, she did volunteer work with the community until her children became established in their own personalities. She then began her adventures in business, taking college classes, painting (her favorite medium was oil), traveling and continuing to work with community groups. She was a veracious reader who was never far from her current book.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or Goose Creek UMC Benevolent Fund.
A service will be held at the Goose Creek United Methodist Church at 142 Redbank Rd., Goose Creek, South Carolina on Friday June 3 at 4pm. After the service Frances will be taken back to her home in Maryland to be laid to rest next to her husband.
