Frederick J. Harm, 90, of Johns Island, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Born on May 10, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA, Frederick was the son of the late Hilda Kunkel Harm and the late Frederick Harm.

Frederick was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 1953. After high school he served in the United States Navy and subsequently earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. After college he moved to Connecticut where he was employed by Pratt and Whitney. It was there he met his future wife Marjorie Stratton. They wed in 1963 and settled down in South Windsor, Connecticut, where he would go on to volunteer his time with community organizations such as the Rotary Club and the Boy Scouts of America. 

Fred and Marjorie welcomed their first child Michael in 1966 and their daughter Pamela in 1968. After leaving Pratt and Whitney Fred and Marge moved briefly to Indianapolis, Indiana before moving to Phoenix, Arizona where he retired from Allied Signal. In 2003 Fred and Marge moved to Charleston, South Carolina to be close to their daughter and her family. Fred enjoyed golf, reading, and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He was a loving husband, father and doting grandfather. Fred’s family would like to thank the Harmony at West Ashley staff and the care team at Family Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care of Fred at the end of his life.

In addition to his parents, Frederick is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Stratton Harm and his brother, Roger Harm.

Frederick is survived by his daughter, Pam Pride (Eric); son, Michael Harm and grandsons, Brody Pride and Andrew Pride.

A service celebrating Frederick and Marjorie’s life will be held in Maine at a later date.
