With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing at home of our beloved Geneva Anne Fortner, on Friday, January 17, 2025. Anne was 81 years of age.
As a child of her era, Anne was born at home on James Island, June 27, 1943, to the late Bernice Wilson Nations and WT "Dub" Nations.
She attended James Island High School where she excelled in science, mathematics and basketball. With her love of science, she attained higher education. She was a registered radiographer at General Dynamics, then elevated her career further at Alumax as a Metallurgical Analyst. She excelled in traditional male dominated environments. She was a card-carrying member of ACLU, former member of SC Women in Business Association, supporters of Women's Rights and Lowcountry Aids.
She is predeceased in death by her son, Micheal J. Fortner (Charleston) and sister, Patricia N. Danahey (North Charleston).
Her determination to overcome any obstacle, and absolute love of family will be greatly missed. Her life is worth celebrating with those she met.
Anne is survived by her loving husband, Ray Fortner; daughter, June Fortner-Cane (Greg); granddaughter, Ashleanne Beaudoin (Paul) of Conway and great-grandson, Harper Michael Beaudoin.
Family will be acknowledging the life of Anne privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity.
