Father George Elliott Miley died on May 5, 2026, after a long illness. He was born on Jan. 2, 1941, in Harrisburg, IL. After 3 years in the Army and a long career primarily in sales, including owning a hardware store in Derry, NH, he attended St. Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Theological College in Berkeley, CA, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Sacred Theology. After serving a parish in Payson, AZ for sixteen months, he was called to be the rector of the Anglican Church of the Holy Cross in Oklahoma City. He retired there nineteen years later and moved to Summerville, SC, where he was an assisting priest at St. Timothy's Anglican Church in Charleston until his health made it impossible to serve at the altar.
He was always active in community activities. He was a member of five Rotary Clubs, joining his first one in 1977, and had perfect attendance until 2023. He was a multiple Paul Harris fellow.
He is survived by Louise Miley, whom he married on Dec. 29, 1966; by his son, David Miley of Chicago, IL; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Andy Lebeis; his granddaughter, Carina Lebeis; and his grandson, Henry Lebeis, all of Underhill, VT; and his sister and brother-in-law, Nelle and Danny Derrickson of Mountain Home, AR. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Jeanne Miley; his sister, Sarah Miley; and his brother, Frank Miley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Timothy's Anglican Church, 1900 Old Parsonage Rd., Charleston on May 19 at 10:00 am. He will be interred at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery the following day. All those who are fully COVID-vaccinated will be welcome at both services. For anyone who cannot attend, the Requiem will be live streamed at
