Graham Robert Brough was born on March 9, 1942, in Birmingham, England, to Albert Cecil Brough and Elsie Mary Brough. At age nine, he emigrated to the United States with his mother aboard the Queen Mary, eventually settling in New Jersey.
He earned his Bachelor of Science from Drexel University in 1965 and later received his master’s degree in business from Rutgers University in 1970. He proudly served in the Army Reserves from 1966 to 1972.
While in college, Graham met the love of his life, Sara “Sally” Ellsworth. They married on September 18, 1965, beginning a 60-year partnership defined by love, laughter, generosity, and a shared devotion to animals and family. In 1980, they welcomed their beloved daughter, Allison “Ali” D. Brough, through adoption.
Graham enjoyed a successful career with Anderson Consulting (now Accenture), becoming a partner in 1978. Based in New York, he was a senior executive with over 35 years of experience in business and management, specializing in growing consulting practices and delivering strategic initiatives. He led publishing and media clients both domestically and internationally and was known as a respected leader and mentor.
Graham and Sally raised Allison in Darien, Connecticut, where they built a life filled with friendship, community, and support for Allison’s horseback riding. The family also treasured summers in Bay Head, New Jersey, and winter ski trips to Colorado. Graham enjoyed sailing, biking, tennis, and life’s simple pleasures — especially a fine glass of scotch or a buttery Chardonnay.
In 2006, Graham and Sally moved to the Charleston area, settling on Daniel Island. Graham had a true appreciation for great food and dining experiences, always eager to discover new restaurants while remaining an adored regular at his favorite spots - where he and Sally were treated like family. Allison later joined them in Charleston.
On April 1, 2026, Graham passed peacefully after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, surrounded by family. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Dubois; his devoted wife of 60 years, Sara “Sally” Brough; his daughter, Allison Brough; and his beloved cats, Eloise and Silus.
Graham will be deeply missed. His legacy of love, generosity, and joy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
