Harlin Lewis "Pete" Decker

Harlin Lewis "Pete" Decker, 78, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Born on March 21, 1945, in Cincinnati, OH, Pete was the youngest of five children born to the late Roy Eugene and Eleanor E. Rogers Decker. 

A graduate of Western Hills High School, Pete proudly served for four years in the United States Army. After an honorable discharge, he went to work at the CSX Corporation from 1969 until his retirement in 2004. He was a huge fan of University of Kentucky Basketball, Cincinnati Reds, and Jacksonville Jaguars. He greatly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed vacationing in Palm Coast, FL with his family. 

Pete is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" Decker, daughter, Kristen "Nikki" Decker and grandson, Andrew Ray. 

Pete is survived by his children: Michele Williams Ray, Robert W. Williams, Casey M. Decker and Ashlee Decker Hopper; three grandsons; one granddaughter; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene; three sisters: Joyce, Shirley and Jeanette; along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 19, 2024, at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation - James Island, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson, Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
