Harry Marshall Cook, Jr.

Harry Marshall Cook, Jr., 86, affectionately known as "Mr. Bud", of Monterey, VA passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 while visiting with family.

Born on August 27, 1937 in Verona, VA, he was the son of the late Edith Kratzer Cook and the late Harry Cook.

He was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VA Tech).  He was a Civil Engineer, Bridge Designer, and talented artist.  He loved the mountains and all things outdoors. Bud was drafted into the US Army and served in the National Guard.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nancy Lee Welliver; his brother-in-law, Bill Welliver; and special friend, Emogene Tidd.

Harry is survived by his daughters, Kimberley Peters (Joey) of Hanahan, SC and Amy Cook of Waynesboro, VA; his two grandchildren, Trae Peters (Brittany) and Brittany Peters Altman (Sam); his four great grandchildren, Brooklyn Peters, Reagan Peters, Cason Altman, and Anna Grace Altman; his sister, Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Cook-Miller (John); his nieces, Debra Welliver Kiracofe, Kathy Welliver Southerly, and Lauren Ochletree Walker; and his nephew, Travis Ochletree.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Trident Medical Hospital and Lowcountry Community Hospice House for their care during his last days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Monterey, Virginia.

To whom it matters, Dad's soul did pass through Virginia on his way to Heaven!
