Henry Purvis Winter, III

Henry Purvis Winter, III, 66, of Bowman, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024. 

Born on April 7, 1957, in Holly Hill, SC, he was the son of the late Bertha Shingler and the late Henry Winter, Jr.. 

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Purvis, especially his love for his children and the Lord. He absolutely loved hunting. He could only be found at the hunting club and in the woods during hunting season. He enjoyed fishing, singing, and playing the guitar. His amusing personality was contagious to everyone he encountered. He never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, Henry is preceded in death by grandparents, James and Elizabeth Shingler; sister, Debra Winter; and son, James Winter, Sr.

Purvis is survived by his daughter, Jennifer "Jenni" Winter (Kahrone); son, Henry "Bubba" Winter, IV; fiance', Arlene Wyrick; sisters, Penny Winter and Sharon Winter; brother, Patrick Winter; grandchildren: Bradley Winter (Kalei), Madison Winter, AJ Antonetty (Tatiana), Kylee Allen, MaKayla Winter, Remi Winter and Mya Winter; great-grandchildren, Kashton Brabham and Ellianna Antonetty.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Wassamassaw Baptist Church, 704 State Rd S-8-291, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Wassamassaw Baptist Church. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
