Howard Jackson, 85 of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully while being surrounded by his family on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Born on April 17, 1941 in Hendersonville, North Carolina, Howard was the son of the late Delno Pearl Jackson (Hudgins) and Richard Pierson Jackson.

After graduating from Chicora High School, Howard served in the Coast Guard for 21 years of honorable service attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer W2. Then he worked as an engineering technician at Life Cycle Engineering in Charleston, SC for over 20 years. As an active 40 year member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Goose Creek, he was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus chapter 11991. His greatest joys included spending time with his family and hosting an annual beach week every summer with his wife, his children and grandchildren. He loved his Ford Mustang, golfing with his friends and family, cheering for the Atlanta Braves, and playing the ukulele with his band, Music in the Creek.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, sister Connie Dill and brother Danny Jackson.

Survived by his loving wife of 62 years Diane Jackson; his children Wendy Patterson (Douglas), Cindy Manning (Alex), Richard Jackson (Melanie), Robert Jackson (Erin); his grandchildren Alicia Manning, Alex Manning, Jacob Patterson, Colleen Jackson, Jenna Patterson, Allison Clamp (Caden), McKenna Jackson, Brady Jackson, Jaclin Patterson and Patrick Jackson; and his brothers Michael and Chester Jackson.

The family will receive friends on Monday, the 1st of June, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home at 869 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St James Ave, Goose Creek, South Carolina. Burial will be held at Plantation Memorial Gardens in Moncks Corner, South Carolina following the mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
