Irene Loretta Dreifort (Ledinsky)

Irene Loretta Dreifort, 92, of Wadmalaw, SC, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. She was born on Wednesday, March 22, 1922, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Anna Ledinsky and the late Frank Ledinsky. Irene was born and raised in Cleveland, OH. At age 18, she was crowned the first 'Miss Euclid, OH'. She had a passion for cooking. She prepared meals for soldiers in Kentucky during the war in 1944, Lake Catholic High School, and for the Cleveland Browns' owner, she had a passion for cooking that often made hers the most famous house on the block. Irene was always willing to give a helping hand. Her family remembers her as a no-nonsense woman who loved her family and friends. Along with her parents, Irene is preceded in death by Alfred A. Kovacs; Paul Dreifort; two daughters: Sherry Kovacs Pacholke and Jacqueline Kovacs Kostelnik; one son, Frank A. Kovacs; and one sister, Elizabeth Anderson. Irene is survived by two daughters: Cynthia O'Rourk of Wadmalaw, SC and Candace Kovacs Pourciau and her husband, Herby, of Houston, TX; one son, A. Gary Kovacs and his wife, Karan, of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren: Todd Pacholke of Atlanta, GA; Kelly Carroll and her husband, Kevin, of Wadmalaw, SC; Ryan O'Rourk of Wadmalaw, SC; Jenny Kostelnik Miller and her husband, Jason, of Chillicothe, OH; Mickey Kostelnik and his wife, Kate, of Rochester, NY; Austin Wallis and his wife, Amanda, of Monterey, CA; Gene Wallis of Dallas, TX; Nick Kovacs of Houston, TX; and Alex Kovacs of New York City, NY; 15 great-grandchildren; two nieces: Patricia Everett and her husband, Bud, of Huron, OH; and Marilyn Zimmerman and her husband, Fred, of NC; two-great nieces; and one great-nephew. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2014, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 2:00pm, with Father Todd Oswald officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Lone Survivor Foundation at 2626 S.
