James Roy Shepard

James Roy Shepard, 81, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 23, 2025, surrounded by loving family.

Born on March 23, 1944, in Winnfield, Louisiana, James was raised in Mineral Wells, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Glenver Cleo Vannoy Shepard and father, Walter Shepard, both of Mineral Wells, Texas.

James proudly served 23 years in the United States Navy as an Operational Specialist, First Class Petty Officer. He served on numerous Navy ships homeported in the Charleston area.

James is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jackie; and his sister, Debra Burns of Arkansas. Remaining to cherish his memory are daughters: Phyllis Appell (David), Connie Kimbro; and son, James Jr. His grandchildren were loved beyond measure: Darin Wiltse (Justine), Zachary Shepard (Brandie), Nathan Appell (Kaylynn), Cody Shepard (Allie), Madison Shepard, Michael Kimbro II, and Hannah Shepard; along with his eight great-grandchildren: Kyleigh Shepard, Ava Shepard, Camellia Shepard, Zachary Shepard Jr, Kollin Shepard, Keaton Shepard, Kaegan Shepard, and Aspen Appell.
