Jane H Terhune (Howell)

Jane Howell Terhune entered into Eternal Rest December 31st, 2015. A resident of Sandpiper Retirement Community and Georgetown, SC she was born in Newark, NJ on June 8, 1932. Jane was the daughter of Charles and Audrey Howell of Madison, NJ. She lived a life of dedication to her profession and service to others. She was Cofounder in 1975 and later president of the National Association of Legal Assistants and was active in that organization her entire adult life. She received a Lifetime Service Award from the American Red Cross, was a deacon and elder in the Georgetown Presbyterian church and served on numerous boards of both charitable and musical organizations throughout her life. She is survived by her sister, Gwen Howell Cerveny, of New Hampshire and her children, Richard Charles (Kay Layne) Terhune, of Daniel Island, SC, Susan Terhune (Rick) Bonner, of Charleston, SC, and Carolyn Terhune Casselman, of Georgetown, SC; 5 grandchildren, Claire Terhune, Ryan Bonner, Abigail Terhune, Katherine Bonner (Doyle) Best, and Kayla Terhune; and 1 great grandchild, Jennings Best; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association. A Memorial Service will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Reception to follow. A second Memorial Service will be held at Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 558 Black River Road Georgetown, SC 29440 on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM. A reception to follow.
