It is of great sadness that we announce the death of Janet Lee Woodruff 81, of Swansea S.C. Born in Elkhart, Indiana October 20, 1941. She was the daughter of the late, Wilbur and Helen (Nicholas) Couts and a stepson Rusty Woodruff.
Janet Woodruff married Russell Woodruff w in Warsaw, Indiana on June 26, 1970. They were married 53 years. At a young age of 5 years, she began Batoning and throughout her High School years with many accomplishments winning Championships in Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan and Ohio. She very much loved animals, gardening, flowers and her family. Janet was a very outgoing, friendly, and never met a stranger kind of woman. She will be remembered for always displaying a big smile. A wife, mother and grandmother too, this is the legacy we have from you and one we will cherish always within our hearts.
She is survived by her husband Russell Dale Woodruff; sons, Rick (Karen) Woodruff, Darrell (Julie) Woodruff; step-daughters, Gwen Loftus, Claudia Bobay, and Leigh Anne Bowman; grandchildren, Ricky Woodruff, Joshua Woodruff Wendi (Woodruff) Stanley, Jackson Jones and Jesse Jones, Jason Lee Woodruff, Brianne Elizabeth (Woodruff) Long, Grant Lee Woodruff, and Krista Marie Williamson; and great grandchildren, Aaron, Reba, Logan, Hunter, Hailey, Shelby, Wyatt, Carson, Weston, and Lucas.
In accordance with Janet's wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family good-bye was held at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, State St.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of South Carolina, University of South Carolina Research school of Medicine or the County Animal Shelter.
