Jared Lloyd Dingus, 49, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Born on August 24, 1976, in Portsmouth, VA, Jared was the younger son of James L Dingus, Jr and Jane Moody Dingus.

Jared was an All-Star baseball player and a talented tennis player growing up, spending six years in the Bronco League and two years as third seed on his high school tennis team. He graduated from Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, VA, in 1994, attended Old Dominion University from 1994 to 1997, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Charleston Southern University in 2002.

With his degree in Computer Science, Jared built a successful career in Information Technology. He also had a passion for collecting vintage movie posters and enjoyed cooking chef-inspired meals.

Jared was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Alice Moody and Lloyd and Justine Dingus, as well as his cousin, Doug Vick, with whom he grew up, all of Chesapeake, VA.

He is survived by his loving parents, Jimmy and Jane Dingus of Goose Creek, SC, and his older brother, Jamey Dingus of Portsmouth, VA. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Richard and Theresa Vick, Bill Moody, Bryan and Lori Dingus, all of Chesapeake, VA, and Rick and Pam Dingus of Palm Harbor, FL, along with ten cousins from various locations.

A private viewing was held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, attended by his mother, father, and older brother, at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

A celebration of life event will be held in Chesapeake, VA, at a date and time to be announced online at mcalister-smith.com/.
