Jean Weber Bing-Zaremba, 81, of Johns Island, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, just five weeks after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family in her home.
Born on December 23, 1943, in West Springfield, MA, Jean was the only child of the late Helen Grabowski Weber and the late Herbert Weber, first generation immigrants from Poland and Germany.
Jean loved gardening, reading, traveling, and decorating her many homes over the years. With her husband, Carlos, she lived and traveled extensively throughout South America, the Caribbean, and Europe. Jean and Carlos resided in too many places to list throughout their marriage, but chose to make Folly Beach and Johns Island their home from the early 1990s, after falling in love with the area on their 25th wedding anniversary trip.
As a former schoolteacher, Jean nurtured others, whether they were her own children, grandchildren, pets, students, or her friends' children and grandchildren. During their thirty years on Folly Beach and Johns Island, she embraced the surrounding communities and truly enjoyed hosting gatherings for family and friends. Jean was a driving force in the formation of La Iglesia Episcopal San Juan at St. John's Episcopal Church where she was a long-standing member. As an only child who had moved dozens of times over the course of her marriage, she believed "family" and "home" were the people and places where you surrounded yourself with love. She had "family" everywhere and will be missed by all who knew her.
Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carlos Bing-Zaremba; daughter, Kim Fennessey (Tom) of Johns Island; sons, Marc Bing-Zaremba (Dale) of Furlong, PA and Adrian Bing-Zaremba (Debbie-deceased) of Glen Mills, PA; grandchildren: Caitlin & Lauren Bing-Zaremba (Adrian) and Jacob & Austin Bing-Zaremba and Kerrigan & Reegan Moran (Marc). In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Debbie Bing-Zaremba.
A memorial service is planned for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at St. John's Episcopal Church on Johns Island, followed by a reception at Walton Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Pet Helpers Adoption Center of James Island.
